Willow Creek

12/20/2009

It is almost Christmas day!  We have had a good advent season.

Here are some pictures from our Willow Creek adventure this past semester.  It was a lot of fun.  I was pretty skeptical about how well a mega-church like Willow could effectively minister to so many people.  However, I was pretty pleasantly surprised.  During the service some 1000 people came forward to celebrate that they had been baptized by Willow Creek...just in the last year!  It was also the anniversary celebration for the founding of Willow Creek, so there were some 4000 or so pizzas that were donated for the celebration.  All in all, pretty crazy, but good to see how God works in different ways.

Adam - Next time you are at WC look for a couple bricks on the southwest side of the main building. I paid for those back in 1979 when I used to attend WC when it met in the movie theater and I was a poor college student. Was such an exciting vibrant church where you'd sit next to a motorcycle gang one Sunday and a group from a retirement home the next. Was the most eclectic group of worshipers I've ever been around.

Oh...I've been back once about 15 years ago with my Aunt and Uncle who called it "home church" for several years. But, I imagine it is even more immense -- and I don't think ANY of us, including Bill H. knew it would turn into it's present day situation.
