Building Houses, Building Hope Since 2005, students of the Amundsen Educational Center (AEC) spend each school year building a house together. With a qualified instructor to guide their work, AEC students spend the first week of class each fall preparing to pour the house’s foundation. The last week each spring they prepare the house to sell on the open market. The students do all aspects of the home construction themselves, while the instructor teaches and directs their work. Local professionals also lend their services and oversight to the excavating, plumbing, and electrical work. AEC students have the unique opportunity to build an entire house as a team and gain the confidence that they have the skills necessary to be employed in the Alaskan construction industry. The AEC student built houses will be available for purchase each Spring. Are you interested in partnering with AEC students to build the Houses of Hope? Let us know today!
What is AEC's Mission?
Recruit a small group of primarily Alaska Native students from Rural Alaska each year…
Enable and equip them to build an entire house together while growing in their faith in Christ…
Bring them into a village-like Christian campus to live together with a team of mission-minded instructors...
Provide them with the tools to deal with life’s hurts and develop successful life-skills…
