We just got back from Colorado where we celebrated my grandparents 50th anniversary. Wow! What a great goal to strive for. Shirleen and I only have 47 1/2 years more to go. :-) It was a big week too, as Grandpa had open heart surgery, but seems to be recovering well. Shirleen also saw her first funnel clouds in her life, as we had tornados touch down close to us all week long. Crazy crazy weather in Colorado last week! We had a great time, but we're very glad to be back in AK.

I just got home yesterday at about 12:30am from Bible Camp in Unalakleet. It was AWESOME! I think it may have been the best week I've had in my 20 or so weeks at camp. The way God was working was just amazingly obvious. The highlight of my week was that we had 7 testimonies given from Native leaders. I rarely cry, but 2 of the testimonies given made me shed tears because of how obvious the transformation was in the lives of my friends. One testimony focused on how God gave a family for us, even if our earthly family is broken. The other testimony focused on how a real relationship with Christ (not just head knowledge) will bring you a hope and a joy that you simply can't even imagine, unless you also have that relationship. I was blessed to have the opportunity to serve as Program Director during the week, and the many strong staff made my job very easy. I was sad to have to leave after only one week, since I usually stay longer...however, I am very excited to visit Colorado this week for my Grandparents' 50th anniversary...what a milestone!! And of course, I missed my baby and wife very much as well. :-) |
