Week 6 Journal

3/2/2011

Today we were supposed to journal after doing some physical exercise, just journal, also spending some time to reflect on how exercise might affect our journaling.

For exercise I moved furniture around for 30 minutes as we are preparing to house 6 people at our place tonight.  3 of the folks are with Mission Aviation Repair Center (MARC).  Those boys sure are good to us.  They fly missionaries all over Alaska for the price of gas.  Although, gas sure is expensive these days.  10 years ago a round trip from Anchorage to Unalakleet was $150 per person to Bible Camp.  Now it’s $500.  What can you do?  The other 3 are with the Native Christian band, Broken Walls.  They are doing a 5 village tour promoting suicide intervention in the schools and doing outreach concerts at night.  Pretty cool.  They definitely have a little different theology than me, but we both love Jesus, so I’m good with it.

It feels good to do some exercise.  I wish I had more time to do it.  I’ve been playing games with the youth at youth group and they sure get me tired!  I unpacked the Chuck Norris machine the other day and put it together (the Norditrack).  I hope to get on it a couple of times a week.  I’m not sure how much exercise would affect my journaling specifically, but I do know that exercise does help your body out, gives you more energy, and often helps clear your mind…so I imagine the overall effect would be good, but I’m not sure my journal would reflect much change if I did it on a regular basis before.  In any case, I do think it is good to think about your body as a Christian though.  If we are a temple of the Holy Spirit, we should take care of it right?
