Where has our summer gone?

8/29/2013

As I look out our window, I see how the tundra is changing its color.  Berries are falling on the ground.  The silver salmon are turning red.  Well, I can't see the berries falling or the salmon changing its color, but that is what comes to my mind knowing summer will soon end.

Thomas has started his second year of preschool.  We miss him while he is gone.  He is learning so much and we continue to pray with him, telling him that he is a light to his classmates.  He is a joy to be around.

Talia and Toby and I rode, walked to the post office today and boy was it cold.

Al summer we had house guests.  We are so blessed to have the home we do, and we are happy to use it for God's glory.

My sister had a baby in June!  I was so blessed to meet Baby Naomi just 15 mins after she was born!  She is already growing so much.  We were also blessed to go down to Colorado, do some fundraising and spend time with family.  It makes my heart sad because the kids miss all of their cousins.

Please be praying for us as we start up Children's Church again this fall.  One of my best friends used to plan and lead Children's Church; God has called her and her family somewhere else in Alaska.  So, I am trying to get used to her being gone, and taking on this new responsibility.  I know when my friend did it, I was very blessed by it, I pray that we will be a blessing to those who will be involved.

Summer has arrived

Summer is here!  We have enjoyed the beautiful sunshine the past couple of days!  Thomas finished his first year of preschool.  Toby is almost 4 months old.  And Talia still is the princess of the house.

We finished our VBS for the village.  I would say about 60 students from ages 3 years old to 6th grade participated.

We have a new member of the family.  His name is Herbie Sun Su Dada London.  He has 4 legs and a shell.

Adam is not terribly busy with Bible Camp like he normally is at this time of the year!  I have very much enjoyed his presence more this spring!  He still is busy, but a different kind.

7 weeks and getting bigger

Happy 4th birthday to our son Thomas Joseph!  I can't believe he is already 4!  What a joy and blessing he is to us every single day.  God is good to us!  It was the sweetest thing hearing Thomas direct Adam on how he wanted his cake.  Adam was so patient with him the whole time.  I really admire that in Adam.  Adam and Thomas planned his birthday party.

Boy, life sure gets interesting when there is no running water.  For two weeks now, we were first on water conservation, then it turned into shutting our clean running water off because our one million gallon tank was empty, next we had a day or so of hauling snow to flush the toilets so our pipes wouldn't  freeze in -30 weather, now we have brackish water running through our pipes.  We don't have our water heater on, so the past week and half I have been boiling water to wash the dishes, the children and myself.  Adam bought us a portable hand thing for washing.  Adam and I washed about 3 laundry baskets worth of laundry with it.

With all of this happening, it is troublesome,  but I cannot help but be thankful that we do have access to clean water.  And I will be more thankful when we have our regular clean system and I can use my washer and dish washer.

Tobias is here and is 4 weeks old!

My bundle of joy that we patiently waited for for 9 months is here and in my arms. Not in my arms this second, because it is hard to type and hold a baby at the same time.
Tobias Robert is here!  I can't believe it.  Where has he been all my life.  I am so amazed that God already planned out the days of his life even before he was conceived.  We have an awesome God!
We are enjoying life.  My parents and youngest brother were here visiting.  We just found out my mother in law is coming.  Yay for family coming to visit!  Thomas and Talia love having our family here.  Probably because they get a little more attention.  Both are adjusting pretty good.  Talia tells everyone that Toby is her baby.
We are getting more daylight and it is warmer.  I would like to say spring is in the air, but in Alaska we never know.  Last week the was so much open water looking out towards the ocean!  Now there is more sea ice with the colder weather the past couple of days.

Happy Birthday Adam!  His birthday was actually on the 11th.  We made him a train pumpkin spice cake.  We are thankful for another year with Adam and happy to celebrate the day of his birth.
Some pictures below are pictures of Thomas, Talia and Adam setting up a dresser for Baby #3.  They are good helpers.  :)

Nesting and heartburns

Talia and I leave in a week!  I think I am ready to have a baby.  I love how everyone wants to know how I am doing and how I am feeling when I am pregnant.
Tonight the kids and I swept and mopped the floor.  Talia washed more baby clothes while the boys were at school.  We also took a nap.
What will life be like with 3 kids, and under the age of 3?  Good thing Thomas' birthday is end of March, and then we will just have 3 kids...and I keep telling myself that Talia will be 2 1/2, and she is mature for her age.  I think it will be good.  And I am reminded God is good, all the time.

I love hearing Thomas and Talia talk to each other.  Usually they play nice.  For the past couple of weeks we have been potty training Talia.  She is finally catching on, and loves her jelly beans as a reward.

Today it is cold outside!  I don't feel like leaving the house, if I could I would stay in bed all day.

I sorted through some old baby clothes we have saved from when Thomas was litte.  It was so much fun going down memory lane.  I can't believe that this baby will be that tiny!

Now all we have to do is wait.

Time is going by way too fast.  I am 35 weeks pregnant.  Talia and I will be traveling to Anchorage on Jan. 29 to wait for the arrival of our sweet baby #3.

Above is a link to our baby registry.  We feel incredibly blessed already with all that God has given us.  We saved stuff from when Thomas was a baby.  Diapers is one of our greatest needs, as a Costco sized box at the local store can cost over $70.

I will share pictures soon after baby is born.  His due date is Feb. 18.  Adam and Thomas won't be joined us in Anchorage until Feb. 7.  I pray the baby won't come any sooner.

Summer update

7/24/2011

It has been way too long since I last posted.  We have had a busy summer, and are experiencing our first tragedy.  One of our youth group boys, full of life and joy and who loved the Lord, lost his life Friday.  I never imagined us going through this.  My heart is heavy for our village and for his family.

On top of that, we did 6 weeks of Bible camp, my mother-in-law, Polly, was here for almost 3 weeks, we went on a mission trip to two villages, Koyuk and Shaktoolik.  We went to Anchorage for a dental appointment.  Our good friends are getting married on July 30th, and both Adam and I are in the wedding.  And Adam's grandparents will be here at the end of the week.  I am so excited for them to come up and experience village life with us.  It will also be Talia's first time meeting Grandpa and Grandma.  Oh, and we have one more camp in August.  God is good and God is in control.
